Who we are
SolarSiteIQ operates solarsiteiq.com, a free service connecting Illinois homeowners with independent, third-party solar installers (“Installer Partners”). We do not install solar equipment and do not guarantee savings, incentives, project suitability, or any sales outcome. Our Data Protection Officer is Cedric P. Castillo. For any privacy question or request, contact support@solarsiteiq.com.
Information we collect
From homeowners submitting a quote request: your name, email, and phone number; your property’s street address, city, state, ZIP, county, and (when selected through our address lookup) map coordinates and a Google Places identifier; your answers about homeownership status, monthly electric bill range, purchase timeframe, and battery interest; your consent acceptance, its timestamp, and the exact wording version you agreed to; and your IP address, browser information, and hCaptcha interaction (used for abuse prevention).
From installers applying to or using the platform: company name, contact name, business email, phone, website, years in business, services offered, and licensing information; and, for your account, either a password (stored in hashed form, never in plain text) or a Google account identifier if you sign in with Google.
Automatically: standard web server logs, and — on our live production site only, never on any test/development environment — anonymized, aggregate usage analytics via Google Analytics 4, when configured.
Cookies, security checks, and analytics
We use hCaptcha, a bot- and abuse-prevention service operated by Intuition Machines, Inc., on our public forms. hCaptcha may set cookies and process limited technical data as described in its own privacy policy.
Our address lookup tool uses Google Places, and installer sign-in optionally uses Google’s sign-in service — both governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. When Google Sign-In is used, we receive only your name, email address, and a unique account identifier — never your Google password.
Where Google Analytics 4 is active on our live site, it operates on an anonymized basis. It is never enabled on any local or test environment, so development activity is never mixed into real visitor data.
How we use this information
We use the information above to: evaluate and route your request to one matched installer; let that installer follow up with you individually about your specific request; review and manage installer applications and accounts; process installer payments; provide customer support; secure and operate the site; and comply with applicable law.
What installers can see, and when
Before any installer purchases your request, participating installers can see only a limited preview: your general area (city/ZIP), an approximate monthly bill range, your timeframe, and our internal qualification classification. Your name, phone number, email address, and exact street address are withheld until an installer completes payment for your specific request.
Installers pay SolarSiteIQ for exclusive access to one homeowner’s request. Once an installer completes that payment, we release your full contact and property information to that one installer only, so they can contact you about your request. We do not share a single homeowner’s request with more than one installer. We do not sell your information to data brokers, advertisers, or any other third party outside of this one-installer, pay-for-access model.
Payments
Installer payments are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store card numbers — Stripe handles that directly.
Retention
We retain identifying request details for a limited period and then remove the identifying fields (an “anonymization” process), rather than deleting the underlying record outright, so we can keep accurate aggregate records for accounting and dispute purposes:
- Requests that are rejected or outside our current service area: identifying fields removed after approximately 12 months.
- Requests that go unsold or expire without a purchase: identifying fields removed after approximately 24 months.
- Requests that are purchased by an installer: identifying fields removed after approximately 24 months from the purchase date.
These windows are internal operating settings and may be adjusted; they are not a contractual promise of an exact deletion date. Routine system and database backups may retain copies of information for a limited additional period for security and disaster-recovery purposes, separate from the live-database windows above. Transaction and payment records may be retained longer where required for accounting, tax, or legal purposes.
Security
We use HTTPS encryption, hCaptcha abuse prevention, hashed account passwords, and standard access controls. No online service can guarantee perfect security, and we do not claim any specific third-party security certification.
Your choices and requests
You can ask us about the information we hold about you, request a correction, request deletion, or withdraw your permission for us to be contacted about a pending request, by emailing support@solarsiteiq.com. We handle these requests manually today; we do not yet have an automated self-service tool. Depending on the request, some limits apply: for example, we generally cannot recall information already released to a purchasing installer as part of a completed transaction, and we may need to retain certain records where law requires it. Not every legal right described in this section is guaranteed to apply to every visitor — applicable rights can depend on where you live and the specific request.
Children
SolarSiteIQ is intended for adults seeking or providing solar installation services and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices change. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we do.
